Drop Night Notes
For this ‘Drop’ we have tried our best to make all the options we think you would like available and there’s also a very special part of our relicing work bundled in as part of this Drop Night Special.
The Set of 3 price is £395 and includes a set of 3 of our Case Study ’63 pickups (Bridge, Middle and Neck) along with a set of our sought after hand bevelled vintage look covers, knobs and tips as pictured in the product gallery. This aged plastics upgrade is usually a +£70 surcharge on our Strat pickups sets so is a steal as part of the Drop Night Special! You can choose to have your pickups and plastics in ‘Time Machine’ condition ie the vintage look but in brand new condition or ‘Relic’ed’ with choice of relicing level for no extra charge.
Some other options (detailed here for your perusal ahead of time as they are only visible when this becomes LIVE):
- Option To Upgrade to a loaded pickguard +£100
- Usual Wiring Options for the loaded pick guard option (see our loaded guards here for full list)
- Pickguard Colour Choices: (all 3 ply) White, Parchment, Vintage White, Black, Mint Green, Marbled Tortoiseshell
Please note:
- Choosing the ‘Relic’ pathway means all aspects are included in the relicing process, ie the covers, knobs, tips and the polepieces on the pickups (and all to the level stated in the Relicing level field). If choosing to make it a loaded pickguard, the loaded pickguard is also then reliced too.
- All loaded pickguard options include the following USA grade components: Switchcraft Jack, Oak Grigsby 5 Way switch, Paper in oil capacitor, CTS Pots, Gavitt Vintage Cloth Hook up wire
About the Set
The CS 63s are an exact case study and recreation of an actual 1963 Set we were lucky enough to be able to borrow and analyse. When a knock comes on the front door and a friend is standing there with a ’63 Strat, most would be reaching for the standby switch on their favourite amp. Well we did too, but the pickup making geeks in us also scrambled for our multimeters and vernier gauges (we’re old school!). Granted the honour of removing the pickups to measure every aspect of them, there was much scribbling on notepads as we studied every aspect of the magic in front of us. What we have now in this set of pickups is an exact recreation of that stunning set we analysed. The polepieces have the same height, diameter and stagger down to a tenth of millimetre. The output, bobbin height, wire choice – everything is faithful to that set. We believe it’s the closest you can get to that fabled 60s tone for your project and it gives that gorgeous, pure, bell-like Strat tone that SRV, Frusciante, Hendrix et al used to shape their signature tones. This resulting set of CS 63s is a stupendously good Strat Set – click on the ‘Watch’ tab (right) to hear the incredible Chris Buck putting them up against other sets in a roundup video. To us there was only one winner that day – the other sets sounded fantastic, but the CS 63s just added that extra nuanced detail that so many of us seek.
