We are very proud to announce the arrival of our Case Study 63 Strat Set. The CS 63s are an exact case study and recreation of an actual 1963 Set we were lucky enough to be able to borrow and analyse. When a knock comes on the front door and a friend is standing there with a ’63 Strat, most would be reaching for the standby switch on their favourite amp. Well we did too, but the pickup making geeks in us also scrambled for our multimeters and vernier gauges (we’re old school!). Granted the honour of removing the pickups to measure every aspect of them, there was much scribbling on notepads as we studied every aspect of the magic in front of us. What we have now in this set of pickups is an exact recreation of that stunning set we analysed. The polepieces have the same height, diameter and stagger down to a tenth of millimetre. The output, bobbin height, wire choice – everything is faithful to that set. We believe it’s the closest you can get to that fabled 60s tone for your project and it gives that gorgeous, pure, bell-like Strat tone that SRV, Frusciante, Hendrix et al used to shape their signature tones. To us there was only one winner that day – the other sets sounded fantastic, but the CS 63s just added that extra nuanced detail that so many of us seek.   • Black Fibreboard Bobbins dipped in Nitrocellulose.
  • Pickups supplied with Covers, Screws and Spacers (all options).
  • Option to upgrade to Relic’ed pickups set with reliced polepieces, covers and screws.
  • Option to add our hand aged knobs incl. aged Switch tip and Vibrato Arm Tip.

Delivery By default all of our pickups are shipped with Royal Mail who we find to be excellent both within the UK and Internationally. Their rates enable us to offer prices that are very reasonable for our customers and the timeframe is great for the vast majority of countries. We find that, once despatched, Royal Mail tend to take 1 working day within the UK, 2/3 working days within the EU, 4/5 working days to North America and Worldwide. These are guidelines and of course some countries differ and the level of ‘officiousness’ in customs departments differs massively worldwide. If ordering from a country which is notorious for taking a while to process imported goods (we can think of a few!) please build this into your expectation on the timeframe after despatch. How long will it take to make? As a small pickup maker handmaking within an extremely busy workshop we expect to complete all pickups sets within 16-20 working days (Relic’ed orders 5 days longer). We sometimes work quicker than those timeframes and we’ll always endeavour to finish your pickups as quick as we are able to of course.
